Julian had a lesson on Constellation and I guessed that was the most bombastic word he had learnt to date so he kept asking me what is CONSTELLATION!

Conclusion: The Study Room and the Master bedroom are Daddy's room. The back room is Aunty's room. Then where is MY ROOM! ?

Tadpoles and Eggs

Julian attended his 1st BIOLOGY lesson in GUG today, taught by Teacher Faye. He said the fastest racing tadpole swim and poke a hole into the egg and 9 months later, turn into baby..

I asked him where the egg comes from. He replied it is in my body when I was young (lucily not from NTUC). Then I asked where the tadpole comes from. He replied from the pond. So I asked him if I should sit in the pond and wait for the tadpole to poke my egg. He said NO, wait at the swimming pool. I asked him if he sees tadpoles in the pool. He thought for awhile, then replied, "You wait in the pond."

I presumed now his daddy must be the ugly toad!

Then I imagined my own stories...

Story 1

Once a upon a time, a beautiful princess love to play near the pond with her golden egg. One day she accidentally dropped her egg into the pond. An ugly lazy toad saw it and summoned all his tadpoles to race and fetch him the egg. One of the fastest racing tadpole reached the golden egg but was curious about it. It poked a hole and slipped into the egg and got trapped. Nine months later, it grows into Julian Tung!

Story 2

A lazy Daddy toad wanna cook instant noodle but has no egg to go with it so he summoned all his tadpoles to go NTUC to buy some eggs home. The fastest racing tadpole reached NTUC but seeing so many brands of eggs on the shelves, he did not know which one to buy. So he decided to poke a hole and peep through the egg but accidentally slided into 1 of it and got trapped. 9 months later, it grows into Julian Tung! Being a filial son, he rushed home with the tray of eggs for his hungry daddy but Daddy already die of hunger! Ha Ha...

P.S: Sons! This is creative writing ok! So I hope you have my genes and no need to spend money to go for creative writing tuition. OK!

My 5th son

I always say my 1st son come here and Julian will always be the 1st to run over to me. When Gar Gar's turn, I called out to my 2nd son to come over. He will always protest and raised his 5 fingers saying he is my 5th son. I wonder why is my no. 2, 3 and 4 sons!?

I guess his ESP must be very strong and he can feel he is no. 5. Daddy, can you explain the 2nd, 3rd and 4th?

The Art of Shiting!

Aug 2010 - 2 years 6 months old.

Garwyn is finally ready to wear his boxer and toilet trained but not always reliable especially when it comes to poo. When his feeling comes, he will just shit on his pant. So we are trained to observe his facial expression. When he starts to stick out his tongue and twist his face.. suddenly becomes qiuet... We will quickly rush him to the toilet. On the way to the toilet, he will just freeze! His body will be all stiffen.. And when he is PUSHING, he will hold up his legs straight and request you to pull his toes!

Drove Garwyn along to pick Julian from school one day. I drove pass United Square and and he quickly asked me to turn back. I asked him why? He told me GUG is behind. I normally drive pass then make a U turn.

So I told him O no! I don't have a GPS so I missed it and now what should I do? He looked around (but U square is not in his sight), he said "TURN RIGHT!"

Clever boy! Always admire his bravery and decisive character! Guess he will start driving at 15!

Garwyn's dislocated arm

18th Jul 2010 - Happened in the morning after he woke up. Nobody knows what happened. Maybe they fought and some pushing resulted in this or maybe he fell and in the process tried to use his hand to cushion the fall. Best part is doctor from A&E insisted nothing wrong with his hands, just unhappy over the fighting and wanna "tay" mommy and Daddy too agreed with him. In the end the doctor asked if he needed anything like painkiller or cream. I was so pissed off that I told him no need. I have painkiller at home and will go home to apply ZAM BUK for him. He was a little surprised ZAM BUK? I told him since he thinks is just "tay" then does not matter what I apply!


I knew something was terribly wrong with his hands otherwise my usually very brave Garwyn will not cry for more than an hour! In the end I brought him to sinseh and realised he dislocated his arm n sprained his wrist. When the sinseh rubbed his hands, he did not even cry hysterically but only sob. The sinseh was so impressed by this 2.5 years old kiddo!

24th Jul 2010 - We were taking MRT to SUNTEC for their classes. Julian stood like a jellyfish in the train. I was so mad with him and told him off. "Julian, please don't stand like a jelly fish, you will fall when the train stop!"

He was so angry and he answered back. "I've brain OK!"

Julian! For your info, jelly fish has brain too! Please don't humiliate them! BUT they don't have BACKBONE like YOU!

Filial Garwyn

Every nights, Garwyn has a chance to beat me real hard on my hand then said,"DUN PUT FINGERS IN YOUR MOUTH ANYMORE, OK!!"

Garwyn, mommy has been nail chipping since I was your age. I know it is wrong but it is difficult to stop that addiction. Can't you just be easy on that? Just take it that it is CALCIUM supplement for me, CAN?

Just 4 years old and Julian already a job hopper. He has so far switched jobs from army to navy and navy to army. Once he even wanna work in banks. NOt as a banker but becoming a Sunday Clown (part time job) to make balloon sculpture for kids. Now his recent career move is a drastic change. He wants to become an artist but I think Julian will most likely become a "gurung guni" because he just like to pick rubbish from the floor. OK! Not "Garung Guni", a recyclist! Sounds better?

BRA!

We passed by an Atrium Sale in Sembawang Shopping Centre. It was selling Bras! All types of design and colours.

Julian said "BRAS." and asked me, "Mommy, why you don't wear bra?" I was so embarrassed. Then Garwyn said, "Not Bras Ok! It's cap."

Garwyn, since when you have two heads? I think I better start wearing one for Garwyn to understand!

Cleavage

Julian asked why girls have a deep line in between the breasts (he didn't know how to describe it but gesture it by pointing to my breasts). I told him it is CLEAVAGE. Women have bigger breasts because after giving brith, they need to breast feed the babies. And the breasts are to store the milk. As the breasts raises, it creates a "valley" in between.

Wow! Am I giving a lesson on Nature or Biology?

Then Julian's next question is where does the milk comes from? For that I can't explain, it is miracle from GOD!

Garwyn asked me to pat him to sleep. I asked him where? (meaning which part of the body). He thought for a while and said backside. I asked him again, left side or right side. He was so angry and replied "BACKSIDE!"

The Incredible Farter

Garwyn in Tumble Tot

6th Jul 2010 (Tue) - Garwyn has started his new school term 28th June 2010 (Mon) with Tumble Tots.

His transport arrangement is - Mommy will send him to school and Auntie will fetch him home cos I have to send Julian to school. Today before he set off to school, Auntie Selina told him not to bully classmates and to behave himself. You will never expect his reply! He replied coolly, "OK! If he beat me then I beat him, if he kill me then I kill him."

Garwyn has never cried once even on the first day of school. He is really different from his cry baby gor gor Julian who is still crying...

As usual, I sent him to school. Before he reached his school which is on the 2nd floor, he could hear his classmate crying and screaming. He coolly commented, "Still Baby?!"

Wow! Gar Gar, aint you a baby too!? Come on, You are still wearing diaper! and can't pronounce your words properly. Teacher said he look like he is senior here.

2nd Jul 2010 (Fri) - I am so proud of my son! He could differentiate the left and right side of the shoes! I saw him putting the shoes together for Gar Gar and thought Garwyn how to put them together!

You won't understand why I am so proud of him cos the stupid mommy could not tell right and left till 7 - 8 years old! And it was always my younger sister - Winnie, who would prepare my school shoes for me! If not I'll take a piece of chalk to write R & L on the shoes! He He....

Birds and the Caterpillars

30th June 2010 (Wed) - I told Garwyn, "Garwyn, can you get your bird bird to sh sh... (pee)?" He said not bird bird but caterpillar. I was surprised at his description! Ok, then it's caterpillar. Julian heard our conversation and proudly asked me if I saw his big and long birdy. I told him that's not a bird, still a caterpillar. He argued that it is a butterfly so we spent the whole night discussing, analysing and categorising the birds, caterpillars and the butterflies.

It is finally cleared that who owns a butterfly, who has a caterpillar and bird!

14th June 2010 (Mon) - Daddy brought Garwyn to toilet and sat him on the toilet bowl to poo. Then washed his butt and put on undrewear for him - All for the 1st time. Hip Hip Hooray! Garwyn!

Witty Garwyn

So smart is this boy, he bowed his legs and said to me, "mommy, diamond." Then bent his knee and said TRIANGLE. Pointed to his head and said CIRCLE.

I put my 2 hands on my head and asked him what shape is that. He stared for very long and said HEART. It was intended to be a TRIANGLE but yes it looked like a HEART too.

Dr K Tan has changed her medication to :

• Clindamycin 150mg
• Azithromycin 250mg
• Atovaquone 750mg/5ml

She is due to go back for follow up on 26/05/2010 (Wed).

Today she could finish her lunch of beef and dinner of salmon and grains and still waiting for more. Her tongue is a little pinkish now. We went out for dinner. When we came back, she was biting a ball and wanna play fetch. She is more lively and back to her old shelf again. But she pent a little so we only played with her for a while only.

Many thanks to those who gave me the advises and supports and even standby their precious furkids for blood transfusion. Also the staffs of Mt. Pleasant (Sembawang), especially Sujena, for all the supports and care to Nicole during this difficult period.

Julian in GUG now. First day at school, lie on the floor outside the classroom and cried. In the end, Most of the parents know me.

Tick Fever

4/5/2010 (Tue) - Nicole felt lethargic after a shower. The next morning, my maid told me she was not her usual self after her walk. Immediately, we brought her to Mt Pleasant Clinic for a checkup. She was not having a fever but her tongue is very pale.

Dr Kasey Tan, her usual vet was not on duty on that day but they reassured me that Dr Koh Jun Jia is equally good. She explained everything to me and why a blood test is justified. We waited past 2pm for the blood test result. At 2pm, it is confirmed that she has tick fever (infected by babesia). Her result are :-

HCT 23.1% Low (37.0 - 55.0)

HGB 7.4g/dl Low (12.0 - 18.0)

PLT 110K/ml Low (175 - 500)

She was given Prednisolone 5mg tab, Luckyhepa/Hepavite capsule and Vibravet Anti biotic 50mg tab. She will be due to go back for a follow up 3 days later (22/5/2010, Sat). However, Dr Koh was worried that her HCT may drop below 20 and she might collapse and asked to standby some big dogs of 20kg to donate blood to her if needed. My mind was blank. My daughter's life is at stake and where do I find big dogs!

I broke the news to my sister. I know she will freak out and she was even naive enough to standby her 3 malteses for Nicole. I contacted Nicole's groomer to help and they are really concern. I called my cousin who has a golden retriever and she has since agreed to standby her dog for Nicole.

My sister posted in STOMP and ended up having mixed responses like some genuine well wishers who sincerely wanted to pledge their precious dogs to help Nicole and some unkind remarks too. The unkind remarks really affected her so much. Nevertheless, I'm not angry by those unkind remarks but really touch by those who cares for a dog's life! I am really thankful!

As at today, Nicole is still doing fine. She could eat and take a short walk (mommy make sure she dun take her usual long walk cos I am afraid of tiring her). Mommy has prepared an extra meal of liver, beef or salmon for her and she still could finish it. I just pray hard that she doesn't need to activate her backups for blood and she will get well soon.

For now, I just carry a copy of her blood test result and a list of medication she is taking in my wallet cos I'm really paranoid. I am so worry that I might have to rush her to hospital suddenly. I even set Mt Pleasant Hospital in my GPS. I just wish I dun need it!

Nicole's 6th Birthday

24th Apr 2010 - Nicole's 6th birthday. The last few years we had been celebrating Nicole's birthday at home but this year we just wanna make it up to her. Making up for spaying her without her permission, for neglecting her even since she has 2 more siblings, for not being able to bring her along whenever we go out .... (Nicole, you saw mommy going out frequently but actually mommy is not going "gai gai" but to drive your 2 brothers to and from schools and clinic and these are the places you can't go!)

We brought to URBAN POOCH, a cafe for dogs for dinner. We ordered lamb cubes (S$4.50) which she quickly finished. Then we ordered Dory Fish (S$5.00), this time she could not finish. Daddy saw her could not finish her food looked a little heartache. I believe he wish he could turn into a dog and finish the food for her. Ha Ha....

The total cost for this family dinner is S$68.70 but being able to eat comfortably with Nicole without having to worry about those wary eyes is PRICELESS!

Never expect my luck was so down. My 2 monsters were down with HFMD just 3 weeks after recovering from a serious viral fever and bronchitis. It took 2 weeks for them to recover and now another so call childhood disease!

~~~~~ Day 1 ~~~~~

4th May 2010 - Noticed Garwyn had some red spots on his hands and feet. I was alerted but thought was allergy cos we have skin allergy problems that run in the family. So I instructed my maid to give him Zrytec. Hours later, it didn't subside, then I began to worry it HFMD. I kept taxting my friend who is a teacher and ask how to tell. I even go to the website to check. The tell sign is having spots on the soles of the hands and feet but Gar Gar was on the back of the hands & feet, that's why I could not be sure about it. The last call from my friend was to shine a torch into his mouth. I saw a lot of red dots on the upper part of his mouth, that confirmed my fear. It was 9.30pm, quickly rushed him to a clinic and get a doctor to confirm it. True enough, it's HFMD!

On my way home, I called my maid and instructed her to prepare Julian fo the news and take him to master bedroom to sleep. But in my heart, I knew quarantine them within the same household would not help much.

I didn't sleep well that night. Julian woke up in the middle of the night and quitely crept back into the room to sleep. Bringing along his 2 pillows & water bottle. So much he could move except the mattress. As he has no mattress, poor little thing slept on the floor near the entrance of the door. I brought him back to "daddy's room" and slept with him for a while. Then back to Gar Gar's room. That night, I was sleeping between 2 rooms.

~~~~~ Day 2 Many Thanks ~~~~~~

Many thanks to those who helped. Julian's teacher asked me to allow Julian to go to school so she could take care of him and I could devout all my time to Gar Gar. In addition, to minimise the risk of infecting Julian. Dr Rhonda gave me a call (even tho' we are not consulting her for HFMD), and taught me how to manage HFMD.

In the evening, I brought Julian to his cousin's place and brought him home after 9pm. The sensible Julian understood the situation at home and he didn't cry when I sent him over to his cousin's place.

Julian told me he was scare to sleep alone. I told him I'll get Aunty Selina to sleep with him. He was really sensible, he said Ok and slept through the night. The next morning, he didn't even step into Gar Gar's room and went to school quietly.

~~~~~ Day 3 ~~~~~

Today Julian came back from Shichida class and when Garwyn saw his brother approaching the bedroom, he quickly closed the door and shut himself in the room. I was very touched by his gesture. Afterall, this little thing is only 2 years old. Thanks to the teachers and maid, we have been telling them how serious is HFMD and it is highly contagious and the need to separate them.

Gar Gar is so tough and brave. The lesions are all over his feets, hands, mouth and diaper area. Dr Watt said the next few days will be the worst for him before he starts to recover. It was itchy and painful but he never compain. He couldn't sleep some of the nights and woke up to scratch. Seeing him suffer and I could not do much, I could only take hot towel to rub on those itchy areas, this really pain my heart. I bought him a tub of ice-cream to soothe his ulcers.

I was still worrying about how to settle Julian over the weekend but no need to worry about it anymore. Julian was infected.

~~~~~ Day 5 onwards ~~~~~

Julian's case was more serious than Gar Gar. The lesions have spred all over his hands, arms, feets, legs, butt, armpits..... and it was all big and sore. Initially he cried and refused to drink the herbal tea that I'd brewed for him. I was so mad that I chased him out of the house. He cried and cried... a moment later, I went out with the herbal tea and a chocolate egg. I told him, I am his mommy and he is so precious to me. When I see him in pain, it breaks my heart. I am doing all I can to help him not to harm him. He stopped crying and finished the cup of herbal tea. From then on, he ate and drank what ever I'd prepared for him.

I was really glad that both of them could eat and drink cos I heard a lot from other mommies who had this experience told me their kids coundn't eat and drink. We (even the maid) were closer.. going thro so much thick and thin. And the 2 brothers love each other so much in crisis.

Last Sunday (16/05/2010), Julian has got the clearance from the doctor after 10 days of HDFM but a lot of damages hav been done to his skin. He has alot of peeling... Garwyn got his clearance on 11/05/2010 (Tue).
