About Honey
Scribbled by Jolene | 9:40 AM |Old folks always tell me to feed baby with honey no matter how I explain to them NO NO! So now I'm putting it down once and for all.
Extracts from The Sunday Times dtd Nov 18, 2007.
"Infants under one year old, however, should not be given honey.
Honey contains a temperature resistant bacteria known as clostridium botulinum. It produces toxins that causes food poisoning.
In adults, the stomach acids remove toxins, but infants have insufficient acidic gastric juices or gut bacteria to remove them. In serious cases, the toxins may cause nerve paralysis and breathing porblems."
