Young & Dangerous Garwyn

My Garwyn Tung aka Mr (Teeny Weeny) Incredible! To-date, whatever misadventures that will likely happen to kids, you name it, I may possibly have experience it!

1. Hand trapped on lift door

I fetched him from school. Everyone were waiting for lift to arrive at level 5. When the lift landed at 5, he put his hand on the closest edge of the door and it opened with his hand in it. It happened so fast, I could not pull his hand out in time. Luckily, he is Mr Teeny Weeny so I was able to pull his trapped hand out.

He was crying in the lift and I could hear Mummies telling either the caregivers or kids that they had to be careful of thing like that... It made me felt I was a lousy mummy!

2. Trapped foot on escalator

3. Lost! (Gone in 60 secs)

Most common. He is a happy wanderer and worst, don't like to hold my hands. It just takes seconds to lose him!

4. Trapped in lift alone

I dunno how it happened. The door closed and he didn't come out! I needed to run down the stairs to every lift landing to look for him! While racing down, all kinda of possible mishaps kept going through in my head! I saw a couple when the lift opened and he was not in it. The couple told him he was at ground floor with another couple. They insisted to bring me to him. In the lift, I was so embarrassed I dunno what to excuse myself from being perceived as lousy mommy again!

5. Missed the escalator

He was holding my hand and my hands were full with his school bag & groceries. Told him to hold me tight. He was able to just stand there and not moving at all when I already put my foot on the moving escalator. He stood there and cried while watching me move away... A kind lady held his hand and brought him down! Another bad impression on me!

6. ???

What else can happen? TOUCH WOOD!

Dream Saver

Times passes so fast and my kids is growing up fast too! Not too much on their physical expansion but their mental development.

While I was driving today, we talked about NIGHTMARES. Julian said his worst nightmare is monsters chasing after him but Daddy will always appear in his dream to defeat the monsters! I told him my nightmares when I was his age would always be a balloon turning bigger and bigger, bouncing high and threatened to roll over me! I kept running in my night and I was so scare I could not wake up. After listening, he commented "Come on, it is not scarey! Just take a needle and pierce the balloon!"

He has overcome my nightmare! I have never thought of pirecing it with a needle for the last 34 years!

Parents Volunteer

Before I had kids and see parents volunteering in schools or hugging each others and cry on TV when their kids are chosen for the schools, my comment is - KIASU!

Now - MY TURN! and I no longer call it KIASU but call it's the SINGAPORE SYSTEM. In fact I was even late for Parents Volunteering (PV) cos those popular schools oredi call for PV when your kids are 4 years old! And if you study through all the past year result for registration, you realised almost all schools are over subscribed under phase 2C and need balloting. So in order to "upgrade" my chance to phase 2B I started calling... then I realised some schools have closed their PV registration. Even if you managed to put in your form, you still need to be "CHOSEN"! Damn it!

So for the sake of my Princes' future - the Queen has to lower herself to PV! I was quite lucky, the school needs librarians to sort out their books intensively so I managed to clock my 40 hours in less than 2 weeks. BUT that does not mean I am GUARANTEED a seat for Julian cos there is a clause in the form that says it might still subject to balloting if phase 2B is over subscribed!

Now I can only pray hard!

Happy Father's Day

My Dad and his Rojak Business
My Parents, Grandma and ME!

It has been such a looooong time I haven't been blogging. Many changes have since taken place and that really kept me so busssssssssssssy for so long. Now I can only rely on my memory to blog.

It's Fathers' Day! So I shall start off with my DAD! My Dad passed away in a Motor skidding incident when he was only 38! I never get to say goodbye and so it has been an unfinished business for me.

My dad was an illiterate so forget about him being able to help me with my school works but the lessons he had given me benefitted me a whole life time. He was a strict father who believe in canning and it was a one for all and all for one thing. Nevertheless, I was the naughtiest so I always got my poor sister into trouble as well. I used to hate this! But now that I am a mother with 2 kids, I realised I am passing these sets of values and belief to my kids. My dad worked very hard because he was the only breadwinner but he would make sure that every Sunday, he would accompany the family out for breakfast and do marketing together. He would take care of us and let my mom take her nap, we always have meals together whenever we could (therefore I was quite shock when my husband prefers to eat with the TV). Though he was an illiterate, he always tell me he would rob the bank to send me to university cos he believe EDUCATION is way out of poverty!

However when I was a kid, I always think being fillial is a grown up job. Only when you grow up, you earn money then you can be fillial. This is a greatest regret in my life cos my dad never wait for me to be fillial to him. So for those who see the blog, if you dun have to search through photographs to recall all these sweet memories of your parents, then you may be luckier than me. Remember to tell them - I LOVE YOU!

Dad, I have promise you to be good and take care of the family well. I have tried my BEST so you can R.I.P. I have also fulfilled your dream of your children graduate with a Degree! but you never have a chance to ROB for me! Anyway I still love you! Happy Fathers' Day. See you in heaven!

Balancing Act

Life is about yin n yang. Life is about balancing. Balance between family n work. Balance between knowing when to pamper them n knowing when to punish them. Balance fun n learning. Balance between knowing when to let go n when to hold on tightly. Balancing company balance sheet. Balancing family finances knowing when n how to spend wisely n when n how to save. Suddenly I feel like a tightrope walker but I'm pretty good at it now. How much do you need to balance in life? P.S: I like to thanks my blog passer-by for writing their comments on my blog. Thanks for appreciating the blog that was created by my sister, Unique and what I do is simply put down my thoughts and the bits and pieces of my kids' growing up. I dedicate the blog to my kids like a diary so they will have some fond memories about their growing up. Once again, thank you for your passing by....

Garwyn's misadventure again! What a April Fool Day that freak me out! Garwyn's right foot got stuck in the Square 2 escalator.

Thought since it was Friday so wanna bring the kids for lunch and to check out on the Apple's store for iPad. Nevertheless, we never make it for lunch nor ipad, we ended up in Tan Tock Seng A&E instead.

I always reminds the kids not to stand near the edge of the escalator but this hyper Garwyn never really understand. I was a little distracted and he was standing very close to the side of the escalator holding on to the rail watching and suddenly it happened so fast - I just frozen! Daddy was behind him and was quick enough to pull him out. I was thinking "DEAD! His toes are gone!"

Looking at the condition of the shoes and past accidents, usually it will end up fireman coming to release the foot and toes are amputated. I must said this again "GOD was there and watching over him!" I dun need a video to record that moment because till now it is still so fresh in my mind. He had cuts on his 3 toes but not really bleeding much and the cuts were not to deep. We were really blurred. The passer-by told us to go to Novena Medical Centre and we went only to realise it individual clinics and we don't know which is GP! Then another quick-witted guy told us TTS is just opposite! We rushed there! He was a brave boy! He cried but was not hysterical. He kept asking Daddy to clean away the oil and blood on his toes.

His recovery was fast, on the second day he was already running and jumping around. For now, I hope He will always remember NEVER STAND NEAR THE EDGE OF THE ESCALATOR!

Mars needs Mom!

Today we watched the movie in 3D! Damn expensive. After that, Garwyn followed me the whole day. He is so worry that the Martians will take me away!

Bad Feeling

29th Sep 2010 - I was admiring a condo along Upper Thomson while waiting at the traffic junction.

Here's our conversation.

Julian: What are you looking at?

Mommy: Just admiring this building. How I wish I can stay here and just need to walk you to school.

Julian: then you buy lor.

Mommy: I've no $.

Julian: Ask Daddy to buy.

Mommy: We have no $ unless we sell away our most precious thing.

Julian: What's that?

Mommy: YOU la! YOU are most precious to us. If we sell you, we can buy this place.

Julian: OK! YOU can sell me but you must come with me cos you are most precious to me.

Mommy: Me? I'm most precious to YOU? Then why you are always making me angry?

Julian: Hmmmmm... Just my bad feeling.

Mommy: Bad Feeling? When will it go away?

Julian: Hmmmmm... August.

Mommy: Hah! August! Julian, that was last month, why your bad feeling still lingers?

Julian: I think it'll go away when I'm 5!

Global Warming

Today I went to fetch Julian from school and the sky looked foggy.

Julian asked, "Is it burning offering again like the 7th month?"

I replied, "NO. Could be Volcano Eruption or burning of Forests in neighbouring countries."

Julian replied, "O! They detroyed the environment and caused global warming? That is why make Ah Peh (his uncle) so tanned?"

I'm speechless. What has Uncle George's skin tone to do with global warming?

Love you till the end of universe

Today we read a book called Mars Needs Mums.

Julian said he will love me till the end of universe. I asked if he will eat with me when I'm old & ugly? He said he will! I asked what happened if his wife & kids dun wanna eat with me on the same table. He said he will buy another table & chairs & eat with me only.

Although I know he may not honor his promise but I still love to listen. He he. .

Funeral

Julian is very sentimental. A friend once posted a music video in facebook titled 童话 and after watching it, he cried and felt so upset.

He is taking keyboard lesson at Yamaha so I told him next time you play piano at mommy's funeral.

Today we were having a rare guest of honor during dinner - Daddy! Usually the lone ranger will dine with his computer or TV. So I told Daddy that Julian practiced his keyboard and his fingers skill has improved. Then suddenly my younger one decided to impress his daddy too. Garwyn said, "Daddy, Gor play piano when mommy dies. I'll play trumpet for you when you die ok?!"

17th Sep 2010 -

I had a stomach flu. Got a jab. Trying to coax Garwyn to nap so I can rest too. Took so long to make him sleep. So piss off and I threatened him.

Mom: Garwyn, a tiger had escaped from the zoo. If you dun sleep soon, tiger will come and eat your bird bird.

Garwyn: No not bird bird... My caterpillar will turn into a butterfly and fly away from the tiger!

Poor Man House

4th Oct 2010 -

Today drove by some terrace houses and tell Julian how about living in one of those houses.There are 2 - 3 storeys and he can sleep in the attic, so fun! He said OK! Then I told him it doesn't come with swimming pool and playground. And his reply is: "Why so poor? Then I'll stay in North Oaks."

Big Head

10th Nov 2010 -

Julian said: "Mommy, do you know why I always rest my head on your shoulder? Cos my head is so big and heavy. It's very tiring for me to carry a heavy head so I need to rest my head on your shoulder."

P.S. :Dear Julian, shall I just replace your head with a pumpkin?

Our Adventure

24th Oct 2010 -

Today as promised, brought Julian & Garwyn for a double deck bus ride. I set the rule to make it more excited! We will take whatever double deck that comes along and we will explore the place we stop at!

We boarded a 131 to Hougang Central. Took them for cheap western food. So nice. Will do that agian!

Their happiness showed on their faces are PRICELESS to me!

Every Moments ... of Garwyn

Garwyn used tissue and rub the corner of it into a straight twisted tail. Then he toldl me it was a stink ray and even demo how it swims in the sea. Then he separated the 2 plys and tell me it is a butterfly. So creative!

Garwyn loves to watch Ghost Whisperer with me. So whenever he is naughty, I will ask him "Can you see light? Then Cross over!"

He used to reply as "Dun want" but now he said, "I cannot see light!"

Me: Gar, see! Mommy bought you choco balls!

He exclaimed: WOW!

Me: So plastic!

He: I dun wanna to eat the balls.

Me: Why?

He: I dun wanna eat plastic balls!

I asked Garwyn: "do you like birthday cards?"

He said NO! He only likes cars not cards. And even reinforced what he said "Cars as in Transport! OK!?"

Constellation

Julian had a lesson on Constellation and I guessed that was the most bombastic word he had learnt to date so he kept asking me what is CONSTELLATION!

I was so tried of his asking and decided to come out with many version of it.

Julian worn the helmet, harness, posed a few photos, played a fool, teased the workers and wayang wayang a little... When his turn comes, he said he dun wanna to do it. Take the goodies bag and back out.

My Room

15th Sep 2010

I always tease the kids that I'm going back to sleep in my master bedroom since they have grown up but they always pull me back to THEIR ROOM. They will always say 'NO, Mommy that's daddy's room, you sleep in OUR ROOM."

Conclusion: The Study Room and the Master bedroom are Daddy's room. The back room is Aunty's room. Then where is MY ROOM! ?

Remember I blog about my argument with Julian that he looks like a jellyfish? He was so mad that he said he has BRAIN. Julian is right! Jelly fish has no brian, heart and bones! Only have stomach and mouth in its BELL. Today we read a book on JellyFish!
